By using Cartwheel, you agree to these terms. They're intentionally short. If anything is unclear, email hello@cartwheel.app.
Using Cartwheel
Cartwheel is a collaborative shopping list app for iOS. We provide it free during the beta. We may change or discontinue features, and we may end the beta and switch to a paid model at any time. We will give reasonable notice before doing either, and your existing data will not be deleted without your consent.
You're responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. If someone else gets access to your account, contact us immediately.
Your content
The lists, items, recipes, and other content you create or import into Cartwheel are yours. You can delete any of it any time, and you can delete your entire account from Settings → Delete account.
When you share a list with someone, you grant them the ability to read and write everything on that list — items, recipes, AI suggestions. Removing someone from a shared list is not currently supported in v1; the workaround is to leave the list yourself and start a new one.
AI-generated content
Cartwheel's Discover tab uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate recipe suggestions based on what's in your list. These suggestions are model output, labeled with a "✦ Generated by Cartwheel" mark in the app, and:
- Are not professionally tested or fact-checked. Cook to safe internal temperatures, especially for raw protein.
- Are not medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or medical conditions, consult a qualified professional and verify ingredients before cooking.
- May occasionally contain errors, omissions, or unsafe combinations. Use your judgment.
Food safety is your responsibility. Cartwheel does not warrant that any AI-generated recipe is safe to cook or eat. Always verify cooking temperatures, check for allergens, and use common sense.
Acceptable use
Don't use Cartwheel to:
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate anyone
- Attempt to extract, scrape, or otherwise abuse our backend (including the Anthropic-backed AI features) beyond normal personal use
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attack the app or our infrastructure
- Violate any applicable law
We may suspend or terminate accounts that do.
Disclaimers
Cartwheel is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific needs. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or safety of any recipe — imported or AI-generated.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cartwheel and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of (or inability to use) Cartwheel — including but not limited to loss of data, lost profits, food spoilage, illness from improperly prepared food, or relationship strain over whose turn it is to cook.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll update the "Effective" date at the top and surface a notice in the app. Continuing to use Cartwheel after a change means you accept the updated terms.
